It’s really fairly simple.

Play great music.

Be around good people.

Have fun.

Of course I’d like to play

artistically great, creative music, jazz being

number one on my list for improvisation.

But great music can also include cover tunes

(for the millionth time) in a society band if the band members meet the second and third criteria.

When I played disco with Donna Summer,

I wanted it to be the best disco ever.

When I played country with T Graham Brown,

I wanted it to be the best

“blue-eyed soul” country ever.

It’s about the music.

Is that too much to ask?
