What makes a Christmas album truly great is its ability to capture the real spirit of the holiday.  Central Standard Time has established a new standard by which traditional jazz Christmas records (if not all Christmas records) should be measured.  This group has captured not only the spirit of the season, but the essence of old school jazz as well, and fused it together in a seamless package of all the Christmas favorites.  In one moment, they sound like the Christmas record Sonny Rollins would have made in the mid fifties, and at another they’re reminiscent of the mid sixties classic Coltrane quartet.  If you love jazz, you’ll love A CENTRAL STANDARD CHRISTMAS.  If you love holiday music, this disc is a must for your collection.  On either level, you won’t be disappointed.
