CENTRAL STANDARD TIME (CST) is a group of four outstanding musicians who have brought their talents together for two purposes: to present the jazz tradition to the public (especially high school and college students) as a musical and educational event, and for the group’s members to do what they love for people who love what they do - PLAY JAZZ!
The members backgrounds include Master's degrees in music performance and jazz performance, bachelor's degrees in vocal and instrumental music education, classroom teachers in elementary, middle and high school as well as in several Universities and Colleges and have students in private study. The band is committed to music education as well as the performance and preservation of jazz. CST’s repertoire consists not only of recognizable and popular jazz standards, but music that spans the scope of the acoustic jazz tradition from the mid 40’s to the present day. The material varies from the more “straight ahead” compositions of the Gershwins and Cole Porter to more challenging music by Coltrane, Wayne Shorter and Joe Henderson. Many original tunes are incorporated in the band’s repertoire as well. CST has released two recordings, ‘3 DAYS IN EVANSVILLE’ which features popular jazz standards recognizable to even the most casual listener and their versions of holiday classics on ‘A CENTRAL STANDARD CHRISTMAS.’
In addition to live performances, CST's members are available for clinics/lectures and private lessons. Clinic topics include improvisation, rhythm section workout, small group performance, learning tunes, effective practice, and building the foundations for playing.
Because of their commitment to musical excellence and music education,
CENTRAL STANDARD TIME offers their talents as a
