HOLLOW
Here between the mountaintops in the valley of my soul
Reverberating memories attempt to fill the hole
Of vacant emptiness I’ve felt from the moment you were gone
I’m desperate for some recompense so I can carry on
Deep within the hollow (past the falls)
Up the mountainside (by artesian springs)
Rise the cliffs I knew I’d have to climb
(Don’t tell me you understand)
It’s not the path I’d follow (I’ll go where it leads)
If I had the choice (I didn’t get a voice)
I need to clear my head of all the noise (make this chaos make some sense)
But there’s nowhere I can go that I’m not in these shadows
Here between the wind and water on uneven keel
Battering the forecastle and tearing at my sails
A long stay on the lee tide gripped by the devil’s claw
Listing, dragging anchor from mankind’s fatal flaw
Deep within the hollow (past the falls)
Up the mountainside (by artesian springs)
Rise the cliffs I knew I’d have to climb
(Don’t tell me you understand)
It’s not the path I’d follow (I’ll go where it leads)
If I had the choice (I didn’t get a voice)
I need to clear my head of all the noise (make this chaos make some sense)
But there’s nowhere I can go that I don’t hear these echoes
Melancholy evocation, a reminiscent trace
The mirror’s froze the image of your face
I’m OK but I’m not fine, not all wounds are healed by time
You said that this too will pass
As if memories know how long they should last
Deep within I’m hollow (I can’t get past the fault)
Beaten down inside (artesian springs run dry)
Standing on the cliffs I knew I’d climb
(Don’t tell me you understand)
It’s a bitter pill to swallow (I can’t force it down)
We stood here as a boy
Jumping wouldn’t clear my head of noise (but landing would relieve the sense)
This facade’s for show cause deep inside I know
There’s nowhere I can go that I don’t feel this hollow
