CARRY ME AWAY
Led by the spirit to the desert to search the landscape of my heart
A barren wasteland or oasis? It’s getting hard to tell the two apart
I took a walk down by the river to quench this thirsting in my soul
I’ve got a pan and life’s the river, looking for a flake of gold
Raise my voice with the congregation joining hands to pray
If there’s a peace that passes understanding let it carry me away
Followed desire to the west coast where nothing’s really as it seems
Gotten lost and need to find myself somewhere in these hazy dreams
Raise my voice with the multitude on our knees in vain
Waiting for either greed or providence to carry me away
I’ve wasted too many tomorrows on broken yesterdays
The time we’ve got is borrowed - so carry me away
Found myself in New York City amid the rubble of the twins
You’ve got to lose your life to find it, you’ve got to die to live
Raise my voice in the streets alone, turn my night to day
I’ve lived in darkness now I see the light - carry me away
