NOT IN NOTTINGHAM
I always thought you’d be my Lois Lane and I’d be Superman
But you can’t see behind the glasses, you only see Clark Kent
I’ve been hiding in this phone booth waiting for the day
That you finally find your senses and I jump out and say
Lois Lane, come and fly away with me
I’d be your super hero but there ain’t no Justice League
In Metropolis nothing’s going right
Never get a break, there’s always Kryptonite
All the fairy tales never end like this
Boy gets the girl, but not in Metropolis
I always thought you’d be Maid Marian and I’d be Robin Hood
But from your palace window you can’t see the forest for Sherwood
Your heart’s all I want to steal but how do I begin
This personal crusade when good guys never win
Marian, we could run away tonight
If it wasn’t for the Sheriff always keeping me in sight
Here in Nottingham everything’s gone wrong
Never get a break she always falls for Prince John
All those fairy tales, every one’s a sham
Boy gets the girl but not in Nottingham
It’s not a perfect world we’re living in
I’m all alone and you’ve got your band of merry men
