WAITING ON MONDAY
Woke up in my clothes again this morning
Couch cushion imprint on my cheek
I haven’t had a night’s rest here without you
And I can’t go on with this lack of sleep
You’ve been gone three days since Delta took you
Back to see your mom and your old friends
Everything is fine here where your heart is
But I can’t wait ‘till you’re back home again
Did the dirty dishes got the laundry put away
Did I forget to say I miss you? I think about you night and day
Waiting on Monday when you get home
I can’t stand another Tuesday on my own
We’ll watch the West Wing Wednesday
And get together with friends on Thursday night
Friday we’ll get a sitter for the kids
We can spend some time alone
Then do the park on Saturday church on Sunday
But here I am just waiting on Monday
Alarm clock ringing in my right ear
Smell Mr. Coffee brewing down the hall
Drag myself out of the bed and to the kitchen
Pack the lunches and get the kids to school
Thought my eight to five was really working
Now I know a woman’s work is never done
This little trip you’re taking you deserve it
But I hope you get back home while I’m still young
Did the dirty dishes got the laundry put away
Did I forget to say I miss you? I think about you night and day
Waiting on Monday when you get home
I can’t stand another Tuesday on my own
We’ll watch the West Wing Wednesday
And get together with friends on Thursday night
Friday we’ll get a sitter for the kids
We can spend some time alone
Then do the park on Saturday church on Sunday
But here I am just waiting on Monday
I’ve been counting every minute that goes by
There’s nothing funny about the way that time don’t fly
When you’re waiting on Monday
Waiting on Monday when you get home
I can’t stand another Tuesday on my own
We’ll watch the West Wing Wednesday
And get together with friends on Thursday night
Friday we’ll get a sitter for the kids
We can spend some time alone
Then do the park on Saturday church on Sunday
But here I am just waiting on Monday
