LARRY BOY

When Bumblyburg’s in trouble there’s no cause for alarm

‘Cause there’s a vegetable who’s always gonna keep you from harm

Not your average super-hero turning white when he’s blanched

But fights for truth and justice and goes great with Italian or Ranch

Not a bat or a spider and he’s not made of steel

(Larry) “But you should never judge a cucumber by its peel”

He’s Larry Boy with super suction ears

He’s Larry Boy every criminal’s greatest fear

He’s Larry Boy, Larry Boy and if you’re getting hungry (you should)

(Larry) “You should eat more soy!”

He’s only 6 ounces but he packs a big punch

He can handle any problem even grapes by the bunch

In his purple and his yellow he’s got nothing but style

He’s a really mellow fellow ‘til the crime rate goes wild

Shaking hands and kissing baby carrots in his spare time

He’s the world’s greatest super hero in his own mind

He’s Larry Boy with super suction ears

He’s Larry Boy every criminal’s greatest fear

He’s Larry Boy, Larry Boy and if you’re getting hungry (you should)

(Larry) “You should eat more soy!”

He’s one in a million, he’s one of a kind

He’s got the heart of an artichoke he’s fresh from the vine

There’s no one else like him he’s the tip of the top

And when it comes to veggies he’s the cream of the crop

He’s Larry Boy with super suction ears

He’s Larry Boy every criminal’s greatest fear

He’s Larry Boy, Larry Boy and if you’re getting hungry

    You should eat more soy!

He’s Larry Boy with super veggie powers

He’s Larry Boy tossing bad guys like a salad

    He’s Larry Boy, Larry Boy

(Larry) “Step away from the car please, that’s not a toy”

When I was touring with Denver and the Mile High Orchestra, Denver got asked to submit a new theme song for Larry Boy to the ‘Big Idea’ people (Veggie Tales).  He didn’t have kids at the time and didn’t know the show, but I did and so I wrote the song, Denver arranged it, and we recorded this at a soundcheck before a gig.  That’s me doing Larry’s voice on the recording, by the way.  Unfortunately, Charlie Daniels had a bigger name and got the theme, but we had a much better song.  It’s still available if you know anyone at Big Idea.
