when the world was young

The recording of this record marks a boundary in my music. On all of my previous recordings to this point I had other musicians backing me up. On this record I am playing all of the instruments. There is an enormous amount of total creative freedom in this process (not to mention financial benefits) though

it is an admittedly lengthier and sleep depriving process. I've been asked many times how it came to be that I became such a multi-instrumentalist. Doubling on two or three instruments is common especially within a particular instrument family, but doubling between brass, woodwinds, stringed instruments, keyboards and percussion seems to take people by surprise. The most direct answer I can give is that nobody told me I couldn't. If music is in your heart and mind the instrument is only a vehicle to get it out of your heart and mind. The concept is the same - just a different means to make the noise.
